Thanksgiving Holiday 2018: Insights from the Biggest Shopping Week of the Year
Holiday 2018 is turning out to be a record-breaking shopping season for the major players in retail. Amazon reported record sales for the period of Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, dubbing the Thanksgiving shopping week as “The Turkey 5.”
While online shopping is ramping up, in-store Black Friday traffic has slowed; the historically successful shopping holiday is seeing fewer people shopping at brick & mortar locations this year.
We surveyed shoppers in our network to identify customer spending habits for the 2018 Thanksgiving shopping season. As retailers extend discounts for longer periods of time, shoppers are entering the spending season sooner to take advantage of early day deals.

With extended holiday shopping time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, retailers are still rolling out deals to take advantage of the longer spending season. There’s still plenty of shoppers looking to grab holiday deals as the calendar year comes to a close.
