Holiday trends and predictions 2019: More shoppers will want in-store pickup (part 3 of 5)

by Scott Spivack • ,

During the hectic holiday season, making sure every package gets where it needs to be is difficult, and expensive. With holiday sales growth slowing, meeting shoppers’ fulfillment demands will be that much more important.

On top of that, consumer expectations around shipping and delivery times have never been higher. When given the option between fast shipping or free shipping, we found that consumers want both, and Amazon is already meeting these needs. Funko recently told us how they stay competitive on shipping by overhauling their shipping process thanks to customer-led feedback and insights.

If you have a brick-and-mortar location, a BOPIS, or in-store pickup option can take some of the pressure off while helping price-conscious consumers save money on rush orders. Shoppers typically want their items as fast as possible during the holidays, and they’re willing to go the extra mile to get them. Plus, the in-store traffic means an opportunity to make additional sales. Our research shows in 22% of cases, a BOPIS pickup led to an additional purchase.

Every opportunity to create a seamless, convenient experience for your customers during the holiday season will help boost their satisfaction – and ultimately, their loyalty. Interested in learning more about our BOPIS survey solution? Click here.
